Jobs & Economy
“ North Carolina and the nation deserve common sense economic policy that creates opportunity and prosperity for everyone who is willing to work for it.”
– Congressman Bob Etheridge
It would be an understatement to say that North Carolina 's economy has been volatile lately. As our state transitions from our traditional industries in textiles, furniture and agriculture to a more technology-based economy, too many jobs have been lost; those who still have jobs face mounting pressure of higher costs for food and gas to healthcare and prescription drugs. I believe we can do better. We need to return to the values of balanced budgets and invest in our people so that every American willing to work hard can succeed and prosper. We need to stop the exporting of American jobs and promote the exporting of American products to create good jobs here at home. We need to take serious, aggressive action to help folks who are struggling to pay their medical bills and make ends meet. And we need to invest in research and innovation to build a bright future:
Working to return to the values of a balanced budget and national surplus, not a national debt
Creating quality jobs and economic prosperity
Fighting for tax relief for middle class families
Working to pass a Tobacco Quota Buyout that will bring $4-6 billion to North Carolina 's rural communities |
