Etheridge Announces $792,000 for Town of Princeton Water and Sewer Project
U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) announced last Friday that the Town of Princeton will receive an award from the United States Department of Agriculture to improve water and sewer infrastructure.
"This funding is great news for the Town of Princeton, and is about creating stable infrastructure and good jobs in our community," Etheridge said. "The upgrades to the town's water and sewer system will help improve our rural communities and bolster services for citizens."
The Town of Princeton will utilize the new upgrades to build water and sewer line extensions to annexed areas and provide potable water to four new commercial users and sanitary sewer service to two residential communities. As these communities are brought into the town water and sewer system they can abandon their existing individual water wells and on-site septic systems and replace old galvanized water lines and non-working valves and hydrants.
The town will receive the funds in the form of a loan for $333,000 and a grant for $458,800. The funds are made possible through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). ARRA is an economic stimulus package enacted by the 111th Congress and signed into law last year. The Act includes federal tax cuts, expansion of unemployment benefits, domestic spending in education, health care, and infrastructure.
